Sinner!

I stopped at Whole Foods today, with lots of time to spare. It was just after the gym, and I was starving... naturally being hungry will cause me toss much more than intended into my shopping cart. And naturally, by the end of the shopping trip I end up taking about half of it out realizing I don't want to spend that much money. Especially at Whole Foods (or, Whole Paycheck as Ryan calls it) I got some Sea Vegetables which are freaking amazing, and when I got home I made Sea Vegetable Salad with avocado, chopped garlic and ginger, some lemon and soy sauce (a recipe I found on the back of the package) which came out utterly fantastic.

While at Whole Foods, I was fatigued with a grumbling tummy in the produce section when I saw something I've never seen before. Ripe, fresh figs. Not dried like I normally eat (and love to eat) Just a ripe, freshly picked fig. It's a surprising fact; but I've never seen one before. They were grouped about 8 to a basket, for 6.99. That's alot of money for a basket of figs, or any other type of produce for that matter. I get my produce from Sunland Produce in Sun Valley (which is a slightly out of the way drive) and it's worth it because I buy my fruits and veggies at whole sale, and straight from the crop farms that way. So, 6.99 is just out of this world to pay for anything that grew from out of the ground for godsakes. But...I was truly curious as to what the fruit would taste like. I eat dried figs, but I've never had a freshly picked fig before. I grabbed one the baskets, and put it into my cart. I walked down an isle and then removed one fig from it's basket, and put it into my cart, and then walked back to the produce section where I returned the over priced figs to where I got them from, then about 2 minutes later while in another isle, I put the single fig into my purse. I don't steal, by the way. I just did today, for some odd reason. I just really wanted the fig.

I spent another 15 minutes or so at Whole Foods inspecting labels and doing side-by-side comparisons of soy ice creams, and the like. I didn't remember the fig in my purse until I got to my car.

Once in the car, I opened my purse in a hurry and took out the shiny fig and bit into it. The first thought that entered my mind was........"Mmmmm forbidden fruit" and then ......."Hey! Wait a second here... I'm Eve right now! Eve stole a fig from the Garden of Eden!" (Christians say it was an apple, while the Jews believe it to be a fig) It was a strange moment for me. I mean... for that moment, I was a Twenty First Century Eve. For a moment in time, I was the original woman...... weird, right?
