Song written and performed by Blaise Smith (my little brother)

just a post.

I almost totally forgot about my blogger page. I mean, from time to time it might pass my mind but I never consider posting anymore. I'm not sure why - I'm just sort of "over" the internet. I've felt like the influx of social networking sites have taken the fun of the internet further than it needed to go. It's become an unavoidable chore - like having a heap of dirty dishes in your sink, or a pile of laundry in the closet. I've seen blogger lately in the same light. What's the point anyway. Who even reads this crap?

Procrastination aside, here's what I've been up to since my last post...

I did that music video for one of my brother's songs, and I think that's where I left off. I've been making little videos with my new Final Cut software and camera, and am actively looking for more content so if anyone has a project they need production for - I'm totally down to shoot it. That's been my passion, and I'd like to start a production company - but I just need a portfolio, and some work under my belt.

I got a puppy in November. Her name is Lil' Bit. She's the light of my life. I'd kill for this dog.

I also moved into a new place in Studio City... Much happier here. The last place I lived, I called "the cave" because it had no windows except the front door, and the ceiling which was someone's flooring sounded like an earthquake when my neighbors walked around. It just plain sucked. Here's my new place... (this photo was taken before I put most of my artwork up on the walls)

Hello blog world. New art.

know it's been a while, but here I am... I'd write a lengthy blog about all I've been doing this past summer, but frankly - I just had a cup of coffee and I'm feeling more like I wanna bounce out of the house than sit here and type the day away. So...

Wanna see some of my new art work? I've been feeling really creative lately....

...By the way.... the photo quality is terrible because I took the photos of these pieces on my phone... but oh well.

Seriously Amazing

I'd added this site to my "external links" section, but it really just needs it's own post because you've got to check it out.

It's called "The Hyde Tube", and it's a collection of a hundred or so short films, which are mostly animated, and about 1 minute long each.

I wish I could just post some of my favorites here, but there isn't an option to post them individually.  :(

They're thought provoking, simple, silly, dark, funny - each one is completely unique and just plain awesome.  I know I sound like a commercial at this point, but...  just go see for your self... you won't be disappointed.

i no write so good

I'm frustrated. I'm trying to finish this piece of writing I wrote a while back, maybe 5 months or so ago... But for some reason, I can't get through it.

It's about Life Extension and Spiritual Evolution. As far as Life Extension is concerned, I'm not making arguments for or against it but, just exploring the subject from a spiritual stand point.

I'm trying to arrange it into a proper essay, but I'm just not computing right now.

Here's a wikipedia page for Life Extension:

sprucin' up my blog

I was just sprucin' up my blogspot, here. As you can see, I've made three separate blog rolls, one for the entries I think are interesting... (most of them on Metaphysical Subjects)

The second blog roll "About the Day Itself" is for entries like this one.. just updates and rants with no particular point to be made.

The third, "Writing Just to Write" are entries that are actually pretty boring, as they were obviously written while I was bored, with nothing really to talk about. Reading them are really a waste of time if you ask me. Sometimes I forget that I should actually be talking about something when I post things - but now those entries actually have a place of their own.

Why do I "blog" anyway? There aren't any booby pictures here so, my hits are much lower than say, my myspace page. It's just fun, I suppose. I like writing. And it's not about the hits anyway. It's about ranting, lollygagging, idealizing, and whatever else seems to be going on with me at the time - and again...it's fun.

Michael Art

Strange that I made these pieces a few years ago...

I depicted him as a Saint, with some obvious humor attached to the image. It was part of a series in which I turned celebrities into saints, with the commentary being that the western world seems to worship, and glorify these household names, holding them higher than is healthy for a society to be able to ingest.

I guess I feel kind of bad about it now.

Here's another one I made within that same period of time, some four years ago or so... (this one wasn't part of the celebrity worship series)

Starry Lake Music Video

I've been working on a new project as of the past two weeks - I'm writing (and will be directing and editing) a music video for my brother Blaise's song, "Starry Lake". I've just finished the first draft of the script and shot list, and with the collaborative help of my friends and family, the production of the video should come off nicely, as we're all very excited to begin working after things move out of development stages.

Blaise will be recording a new version of the song, with high-energy dynamics to be used for the music video, and he'll be starting the new edit very soon.

The video will be an abstract, visual recounting of Blaise's experience at Pyramid Lake, where he wrote the song "Starry Lake". The experience is the source from which the song's inspiration stems from.

The song "Starry Lake" can be found playing on my myspace profile, as well as Blaise's myspace page, found here: Blaise Smith's Myspace Page

The Cove

It's about time someone expose the whale and dolphin slaughter going on in Japan....

I haven't seen this film yet, although the trailer looks extremely interesting.

Apparently, the Japanese government want these film makers arrested.

I think once this film has exposed the truth about their operations to the globe, they might have a much bigger dilemma on their hands.
